We are pleased to announce that thanks to grant funding provided by the Spring Creek Environmental and Preservation Fund of the
Greater Washington Community Foundation and the
395 Express Lanes Community Grant Program, we have new boats and a 'kayak barn' stationed near the north end of Commonwealth Avenue in Alexandria!
The seven kayak clean-up events this summer have been a great success, with an average of 155 pounds of mostly plastic bottles removed each time from the Run. That's a half a ton in total!
Three new volunteer kayak clean-up opportunities are scheduled through August, with more to be added in the Fall. Please consider joining us. It's fun and rewarding.
