As part of Water Discovery Week, we made a 9-minute video that follows the Hume Spring tributary stream from its source to its confluence with Four Mile Run. This small stream, which flows through Monticello Park, also flows for some of its course underground in stormwater pipes, collecting water off the streets as it goes. Check out the video on YouTube to learn a little about this interesting waterway in Alexandria.
You can use the City's GIS Sewer Viewer mapping tool to find out where your storm drains go. If you would like to mark storm drains in your Alexandria neighborhood, or to help monitor water quality in Four Mile Run and its tributaries, please email us at citizenscience@fourmilerun.org.
